Powder Coating Services in Taylor, Michigan

Coatings that chip, fade, or corrode can cost serious money. Simply put, compromised components and/or parts can disrupt production schedules, cause parts to fail inspection, and create unneeded customer headaches. Finding coating shops that deliver durable finishes at reasonable prices takes time but can prove to be critical for meeting deadlines and providing long lasting and durable finishes.

Motor City Metal Fab provides powder coating services from our Taylor, Michigan facility. We coat parts for automotive companies, equipment manufacturers, and fabricators who need finishes that hold up. Our process creates protective layers that resist corrosion, chemicals, and wear.

Why Powder Coating Beats Liquid Paint

To be blunt, liquid paint runs, sags, and wastes material through overspray while solvents evaporate into the air, creating environmental problems. All too often, this can spell disaster for a project. Touch up work increases costs, strains budgets, and painfully extends production time.

Powder coating avoids these mishaps by applying dry material electrostatically. Parts get heated, the powder melts and flows, and then cures into a hard finish. Overspray gets collected and reused, saving time and money. An added bonus, no solvents means zero VOCs released during application. The choice is clear, powder coating offers durability and strength without waste and unnecessary environmental interruptions. Like every business across America, unplanned downtime and rework can be expensive and even sink some companies in highly competitive markets.

Real performance differences show up fast:

  • Thicker coating in single application saves time and money (Critical for budget success)
  • Better impact resistance prevents damage during handling (Strong and durable)
  • Chemical resistance protects parts in tough environments (Reliable to harsh conditions)
  • Environmental compliance without costly air handling systems (Adherence to all regulations)

Our Powder Coating Process

Parts arrive at our shop dirty, greasy, or oxidized. We clean and prep surfaces before coating starts. Surface preparation determines coating adhesion, so we do this step correctly.

Our powder coating booth applies material electrostatically. Grounded parts attract charged powder particles. Excess powder falls into recovery systems for reuse. Parts then move into our curing oven where heat melts the powder into a uniform coating.

  • Surface preparation removes contaminants that prevent adhesion
  • Electrostatic application ensures even coverage
  • Powder recovery system reduces waste and material costs
  • Proper cure temperature creates strong, durable finish

What We Coat

Our equipment handles steel, aluminum, and stainless parts up to 60 inches long. Most automotive components, brackets, frames, enclosures, and equipment parts fit our coating envelope. We run thermoset polyester powder for outdoor applications and epoxy powder for indoor use.

Our color selection covers standard blacks, whites, grays, and custom matches. Texture options range from smooth gloss to textured matte finishes. Part size and geometry determine what we can coat effectively.

  • Automotive components and trim pieces
  • Fabricated brackets and mounting hardware
  • Equipment frames and enclosures
  • Aftermarket performance parts

Need surface prep? Our media blasting services removes rust, scale, and old coatings before powder coating application.

What Makes Our Coating Different

Equipment matters, but knowing how to run it matters more. We understand how coating thickness affects part dimensions. Our operators adjust powder delivery and cure cycles based on part geometry and material type.

Oven temperature stays calibrated. Powder gets stored properly to prevent moisture contamination. Parts get masked correctly, and as a result, threads and mating surfaces stay clean.

  • Process knowledge from years of coating different materials
  • Quality control checks coating thickness and appearance
  • Proper masking protects critical dimensions
  • Fast turnaround keeps your production moving
